Tips and ideas for building a blanket fort
When it’s a grey day outside, a blanket fort can be perfect for getting a fun activity going together. Best of all, it’s easy to do with what you already have at home. Here are some fort building ideas putting your sofa, chairs, clothes rack and loads of blankets, cushions and bed linen to creative use.
Clothes rack camping tent
An idea for a smaller tent-style build is to start with a clothes rack. Use lighter throws or bed linen and they should be easy to fasten at the top with clothes pegs. For more space inside, simply hold out the walls with a pair of cushions.
A cosy cave to crawl into
The back of an armchair can easily become a low cave-style blanket fort, perfect for reading a book or just getting a moment to yourself. It’s a quick and easy build too. Simply drape bed linen over the backrest and go get some cushions to make it cosy inside.
The snuggly sofa fortress
Standing the seat cushions of your sofa upright and draping throws over them can turn a three-seater into a two-room blanket fort. The sofa base is a little hard to sit on, so bring cushions, pillows and blankets to get comfy.
