How to choose the right vase for your flowers
Or perhaps you wonder what flowers to buy to display your new vase? Whichever is the case, it all depends on proportions. A wide bouquet looks best in a wide vase – and then there are those vases that make a single long-stemmed flower stand out. That said, here are a few more tips for choosing the right vase.
A vase for one
Sometimes a single flower is quite enough. This is when you need a vase with a narrow opening to support the stem standing upright. Like this beautiful glass vase that has a metal lid with a hole in it. Remove the lid and you can use it for bouquets too.
Bring out the beauty in your bouquets
A good rule of thumb is to make the vase 1/3 to 1/2 the height of your flower arrangement. For classic bound bouquets, a vase with an hourglass shape works best. This gives the stems space to spread inside and lets the flowers and leaves fall open naturally.
All about the base
A large volume vase with a narrow opening is perfect for putting a big branch on display. Choosing a fairly heavy one made in thick glass is wise. With all the water inside, you can be sure that it’s sturdy enough not to tip over.
Short but sweet
Flower heads that happen to break off in handling can also become a lovely display. Simply choose a shallow jug or jar type vase. A low decoration like this works especially well for giving your table settings some colour.
