To create the wooden-base spring mattress bed that’s best for you, start by selecting the pocket spring core – the mattress that sits on the wooden base – that gives you the comfort you want. We have three to choose from: the 15 cm thick FEMTÅSEN, the 20 cm thick FÄGERÅSEN and the 25 cm thick FJÄLLÅSEN. Each of them comes in two firmness levels – medium firm and firm.

Let’s begin the journey to your sleeping comfort with the 15 cm thick FEMTÅSEN pocket spring core. It’s made of pocket springs, under a layer of foam. Pocket springs give very good support and they work independently of each other. The ones affected by your movements adjust as you move. Motion isn’t transmitted, so partners won’t be disturbed by your movements, and vice versa, of course! The springs allow air to circulate and help regulate your body temperature.

Finally, we come to the innovative FJÄLLÅSEN pocket spring core with a double layer of pocket springs and no less than seven comfort zones, all to help you sleep well and wake up refreshed. It’s 25 cm thick and under a top layer of foam, there are two layers of pocket springs on top of each other in an S shape – an IKEA invention we call S-core. This arrangement means this pocket spring core follows the curvature of your spine, responds better to movement and relieves pressure points. Plus, the seven comfort zones give the different parts of your body the support they need, with a seamless transition between the zones. And again, the springs let air circulate and help keep your body at a comfortable temperature.

As well as choosing your comfort level, you can also decide how your wooden base spring mattress bed will look. To start off with, which colour would you prefer – light beige, beige/grey or dark blue?

Legs also play a big role in how your bed will look, with different styles and finishes for you to pick from. You can also choose between lengths of 20 cm and 12.5 cm to create a higher or lower bed. And even the shorter legs raise the bed high enough for most robot vacuum cleaners to clean underneath. Longer legs let you use under bed storage boxes – very handy for things like sheets, duvets or seasonal clothes, specially if you’re short of space.

You don’t need a headboard but it can add a distinctive, personal touch to your bed. And if you don’t want to place your bed against a wall, a headboard keeps your pillows in place and gives you something to lean against when you’re sitting up. Our headboards are easy to attach and have a choice of three machine washable covers which exactly match the covers of the wooden-base spring mattresses.

It’s easy to take off the cover and wash it in your machine to help keep your bed clean and fresh. You can even get a new cover if you feel like a different look.
