  • Mustard is known since 300 BC, but the first ones to truly appreciate it were the Romans. In the days of the Vikings it became popular in Sweden, but it didn't get its final breakthrough until the 50's - as a favourite hot dog topping. Mustard is made from crushed mustard seeds, mainly mixed with vinegar, salt and sugar. SENAP MILD (mild mustard) is typically Swedish, slightly sweeter then many other kinds. Serve it on hot dogs or use it in sauces and dressings.
New types of fast food from different regions of the world are flooding the market, but the hot dog still stands tall as the number one choice in Sweden. Simmer or fry KORV (wiener sausage, frozen) and serve in special KORVBRÖD (hot dog bread, frozen) together with KETCHUP (tomato ketchup) and SENAP MILD (mild mustard), and why not add ROSTAD LÖK (fried onion)? You can also have them grilled with POTATISMOS (mashed potatoes, frozen).
Long, thin sausages served in hot-dog buns are the classic Swedish fast food, and if ever visiting Sweden, you'll find small hot-dog stands all over. With KORV (wiener sausage, frozen) and KORVBRÖD (hot dog bread, frozen) you can make your own hot-dogs at home. Ketchup and mustard, such as KETCHUP (tomato ketchup) and SENAP MILD (mild mustard), are the traditional toppings, but ROSTAD LÖK (fried onion) is also very popular. Simmer or fry the sausages - done!
