Pizza is originally an Italian dish, usually consisting of oven-baked thin bread with tomato sauce and cheese, as well as various additional toppings. It got its breakthrough in Sweden around 1970, but it was served to Italian guest workers in the city Västerås as early as 1947. Nowadays, pizza is a popular dish among most Swedes, served as a light lunch or a snack.
