Top tips for an organised dream bathroom

Everyone deserves a calm bathroom experience each day, and even the smallest organisation tips can make a big difference to your morning. Sit back and be inspired by some of the beautiful bathrooms we’ve visited all around the world.

Mix textiles with tiles

Bathrooms tend to be full of lots of hard surfaces and sharp lines. Soften the whole room with textiles to make it a space you’ll want to spend time in. A curtain is a great way to hide away your cleaning products, wicker baskets are ideal for storing larger items, and woven mats make a hard-wearing alternative to carpeted rugs.

See the beauty in simplicity

Make a small bathroom feel beautiful – and bigger – with all-white everything, from the tiles to the towels. Use plenty of mirrors to help expand the space even more. For this streamlined look, choose closed storage that hides away all your brightly coloured cosmetics and toiletries.

Recreate a spa bathroom

Take the little touches that make a hotel or spa bathroom feel special and bring them into your own home. Even the smallest additions, such as scented candles, soap decanted into a glass dispenser and displayed next to a matching bottle of hand cream, or fresh flowers, can give you a little dose of luxury each day.

Break the bathroom rules

In a compact bathroom, several small cubbies and shelves dotted around the wall can work better than a couple of large cabinets – plus they leave more space for objects that show off your personal style. Why shouldn’t a small bathroom have a big, glamorous mirror and brightly coloured patterns?

Get a storage strategy

Even if you have an old bathroom, you can still add lots of new organisation solutions. We use so many different items in the bathroom, of all shapes and sizes, but this doesn’t have to result in a room full of miscellaneous clutter – even though it is often the smallest room in the house. Work through your morning routine and figure out the order in which you use things and how often. Put hooks on the walls to hang the essentials you use regularly. Choose open boxes and baskets for things used less frequently, or that you want guests to be able to help themselves to, and drawers for personal things you don’t want on show.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
