Sure, you could just wrap your gifts and put them under the tree, but Santa’s a little more creative than that. This year he’s delivering holiday presents in style with three updated takes on his classic gift sack. Whether cool graphic, modern monochrome or traditional, each sack is super simple to make and easy to customise.
1. Why have one when you can have several? Create a collection of sacks that are customised in different sizes to fit your gifts. They’re easy to make: just cut a piece of fabric twice the size of your present, fold it in half crosswise and sew sides together, leaving about 2 cm at the top unsewn. To create the drawstring channel, fold down the top portion and sew along its bottom edge. Attach a large safety pin to your ribbon, thread it through the channel and tie the two ends together. Flip it inside out and you’re done!
2. Christmas stockings are usually reserved for smaller trinkets. Not this year. Go big and sew your Christmas sack in the shape of the traditional stocking and load it up with presents tiny and huge. Learn how to do it yourself here.
3. Go bold! For a more modern feel, play around with contrasting patterns and colours for a dynamic effect.
We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
