New takes on a bedside table
Know who invented the nightstand? We don’t...but we do know nobody said a bedside table had to have four legs—or legs at all. Check out our ideas that’ll make practical space for your sleeping necessities and make your bedside pop with personality.
1. HANGING HELPER Show off your DIY skills and balance beliefs. Drill holes in a solid wood chopping board, thread in rope and tie tightly. For an extra touch, make a hole a bit larger than a glass tube vase and secure it with rope. Hang it up at the height you want on a curtain rod above your bed.
2. CUBIC CONCEALER Make a focal point that keeps your stuff out of sight. Use a colourful mix of closed and open cubic cabinets secured to your wall to display some things and hide others. Position one at your bed’s height, so the opening faces you. It’s easy access that’s easy on the eyes, too.
3. STACKED SORTER Go for clean simplicity and maximised storage in one. Grab a durable plastic storage box with a flat lid. Fill it with your basics (nothing too heavy). Set it on legs—books, bricks, anything sturdy. We used slim, self-watering plant pots because they have two levels of secret storage!
We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
