Make a gingerbread KLIPPAN sofa
Did you see our IKEA-inspired gingerbread creation? We made a ‘studio-style’ living room from cookie dough with two fake walls, a wooden floor, KOLDBY cowhide rug, LACK table and KLIPPAN sofa. Here’s how to make your own KLIPPAN sofa in gingerbread!
YOU WILL NEED ready-made PEPPARKAKA DEG, a baking sheet, baking paper, scissors, a spatula, a rolling pin, a pizza cutter, a knife, two wooden sticks, our KLIPPAN template pieces and granulated sugar.
STEP 1 Print the template and cut out the pieces. Roll out the lightly floured dough until it’s consistently thin, about 3 mm. We used the two wooden sticks as a guide. Arrange the template pieces on the dough and cut them out using a pizza cutter. Repeat until you have all the necessary pieces.
STEP 2 Place the template pieces on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Then bake according to the PEPPARKAKA DEG instructions or whatever recipe you’ve chosen for the dough.
STEP 3 To make the glue, melt some granulated sugar in a frying pan. Using a frying pan makes it easier to dip the big gingerbread pieces. The sugar dries pretty fast in a minute or two. This step is hot, so be careful!
STEP 4 As support during drying and assembly, we used wooden pieces from our studio. Cartons and packaging work too. To build the sofa, attach the big seat cushion to the outside front piece. Fill in the interior backrest and armrests. Finish the outside. For legs, roll dough into thin cylinders.
We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
