How to make Christmas stocking gift bag
It’s a holiday classic, so why not go bigger and bolder? This easy-to-make sack is perfect for gifts of all sizes and can be reused year after year.
Here’s what you’ll need:
A piece of fabric, 130cm x 85cm (for the stocking)
A piece of fabric, 80cm x 40cm (for the top fold of the stocking)
Scissors
Chalk or a pencil
A sewing machine
Step 1 Fold the fabric you’ve chosen for the stocking in half, lengthwise. Draw an outline of the shape with chalk or pencil, making sure the folded side of the fabric is the straight side of the stocking. Now cut along the line.
Step 2 Unfold your newly cut stocking. Create the top fold by sewing it together with the 40cm x 80cm piece of textile.
Step 3 Now that the top fold has been created, fold the stocking over itself again and sew the curved edges together.
Step 4 Flip the whole thing inside out to hide any seams and fold the top of the stocking down to create a nice cuff (you can even sew the cuff into place if you want). All done!
