Home visit: turn unused space into a holiday let

Whether you have one room or a whole floor of unused space in your home, it has the potential to make you some extra money. Get tips from this flexible holiday-rental space…

With space at a premium in many places, rental prices are rising. Kyra and Dave found a way to afford their converted warehouse by opening up the top floor to paying guests. Their aim was to make it a cosy and characterful place to stay: ‘It’s a unique space and you can’t mask that – people who come to stay are looking for authenticity, not a pristine hotel,’ says Kyra. The couple used plants, colourful textiles and a wall of artwork to add warmth. They also had enough space to install a free-standing kitchenette, which allows for self-catering. And the KARLSTAD sofabed means there’s room for guests to have their own guests. Happy hosting!
