Home visit: make an all-year-round indoor garden
No outdoor space? Create a garden indoors that you can enjoy whatever the weather.
Design a calm corner Use plants to define one corner of your room as an area for relaxation and reading. Open storage is great for displaying plants high and low. If there’s not much natural light available in winter, try using artificial leaves instead.
Mix your displays Use small, low-maintenance plants, like cacti and succulents, to decorate a bookshelf. Place pots on saucers, so they don’t damage your books.
Grow a window garden Combine hanging planters and potted plants to create a window full of nature. Mix all shapes, sizes and colours of leaves and pots.
Make a mini garden Even the smallest home can have a garden for all seasons – on a tray! Place the tallest plant in the centre, then add mid-sized plants and small ones around the edges.
Keep on growing Take cuttings from your favourite plants and place them in a glass of water until they grow roots. Then they’re ready to repot.
When Jules moved into her apartment, she only had a few indoor plants. Now she uses them in different ways in every area of her open-plan home, to decorate and zone the space.
We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
