Home visit: an organised, family-friendly hallway
Adding clever storage to your hallway makes it easier for everyone to make a quick, stress-free exit and creates a welcoming entrance for guests. Streamline your hall with these simple tips.
1. Mixed storage makes it easier to stay organised Plan around your need to store different things, even in a small space. In her hallway, Sofie has a wall-mounted unit to store shoes and has taken advantage of the full height of the ceiling by fitting shelves high up, with boxes to store items that are used less frequently. The small bench she’s found to fit under the coat rail turns that dead space into a comfortable spot to put on shoes.
2. Have a place for small things to go When you’re leaving in a hurry, it’s always the small, essential things that are hardest to find, so putting a tray in a handy spot will give you a place to keep them.
3. Put children’s storage within their reach It’s a simple way to get children involved and help them feel independent. ‘I look at our home through the children’s eyes as well as my own,’ says Sofie. ‘My son loves being able to reach his coats and pick the one he wants and find his own shoes.’
4. Label, label, label Closed storage is great for keeping clutter out of sight. Save time by labelling the boxes, drawers and cabinets you use so that it’s easy to locate everything.
We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
