Fresh home furnishing ideas and affordable furniture - IKEA

Go on a hotel-style micro vacation at home

Take a well-deserved break! See how you can find the real vacation feeling in no time. These tailored tips – from 2 hours down to 5 minutes – make you come back relaxed and happy.

5 minutes

The soothing breather

Pour yourself water in a fancy glass. Add coconut water and ice cubes with berries and herbs frozen inside. Place a cool towel over your forehead and eyes. Lean back. (If it’s a chilly time of year, just go with a warm towel and drink instead.)

30 minutes

Feet up, tempo down

Throw open your window, put your feet on the sill, and dive into a longed-for read. Or perhaps take a virtual tour of a museum online. Either way, a sea of cushions and covers ensure that you’ll be extra comfortable.

1 hour

The miniature spa session

Deck out a trolley with your self-spoiling essentials to always be prepared to indulge, whenever the moment arises. Hang lavender, rosemary or eucalyptus from your shower head (let the steam do the rest). There, your spa is scented and ready.

90 minutes

Give yourself the room-service treatment

Order delivery from a local restaurant – try a new type of food, like you might on vacation – set the table to heighten the moment, and dig in on a delicious meal.

2 hours

Hush – it’s movie time

Jump into your pajamas, grab a bowl of popcorn, and lower your black-out blind. Add a laptop stand for the screen, an indirect light source to avoid straining your eyes – and your improvised home theatre is ready to take you to other worlds.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
