Swedish steeping

Treat your feet to the Swedish “kallbadhus” (cold bathhouse) experience. This Swedish contrast bath tradition of alternating between hot and cold water improves circulation and releases tension. A satisfying way to unwind after a week on your feet.

Location: Bathroom

Energise your body – feet first!

How to energise yourself with a contrast foot bath

Contrast bathing is good for stimulating the immune system and detoxing your body. Immersing your feet in cold water boosts blood circulation, relieving muscle tension and pain. It also boosts happy hormones like endorphins and improves your sleep quality.

  • Cover the floor with a ALSTERN bathmat in case of splashing.
  • Prepare TORKIS laundry baskets: one with warm water, the other with cold water and ice cubes. Fill the water to mid-shin level.
  • Soak your feet using the “3-30-3 rule”: 3 minutes in warm water, 30 seconds in cold water, and 3 repetitions.
  • After the last soak in cold water, carefully dry your feet and legs with a VÅGSJÖN bath towel. Treat your feet with lotion, warm socks and some SKOVELSJÖN slippers.
  • Lay back and close your eyes for 20 minutes, to let your body fully absorb all the benefits.
