An Asian feast

Asian dishes are takeaway staples for very good reason. Not only are they tasty, but we love their classic containers. On nights when you’re feeling beat, why make extra work for yourself? Serve dinner directly from the containers, rather than transferring the food to serving dishes (nothing extra to wash!), but set the table with your favourite plates, and add a few toppings you already have on hand at home. Chopped cashews, herbs and toasted sesame seeds add a boost of flavour and texture.

The meze spread

Longing for a taste of the near East? Just pick up some items like kebab or falafel platters and make sure to ask the vendor to pack up the ingredients separately. When you get home they’ll be easy to arrange in individual bowls for a simple pick-and-choose meal. Add a touch of homemade by making a simple sauce: mix together 1.5 dl Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp tahini and 1 tbsp honey, then top it with a bit of paprika.

The grill master

What could be a simpler, more affordable meal than a hotdog? Just like the meze feast, ask your vendor to pack the sausages, buns and toppings (here in Sweden we love fried onions and shrimp salad) separately. At home, toast the buns in the oven or on a rack to give them some golden grill marks. Now just ransack the fridge for toppings like mustard and cornichons. Try giving your ketchup a kick with a pinch of black pepper or a dash of hot sauce. Bon appetit!
