Cool yet practical teen bedrooms

Who says a teen bedroom can’t mix personality with practicality? ‘These are our rooms and we wanted them to look different from the rest of the house – they’re just ours,’ say brothers Arvid (19) and Axel (12). They chose a cool monochrome colour scheme to complement smart storage and organisation ideas.

AXEL’S ROOM Mirrors do a great job of opening up small spaces, and this one has the added benefit of a built-in hanging rail – ideal if your teen’s room is short on wardrobe space. Knowing where to find their favourite scarf or pair of jeans will help save time in the morning.

Help your teen create a flexible space to hang out, with chairs and stools that can be easily moved around or stored away – a foldable chair can also double as a handy bedside table.

ARVID’S ROOM Instead of a traditional shelf, Arvid uses a metal kitchen rack as a hanging rail for his magazines and sunglasses. It’s a simple storage hack that lets him express his style and keep these items handy by the bed. ‘I like a more industrial style, with lots of steel and square shapes,’ he says.

Help your teenager keep their room tidy with sleek, streamlined storage. ‘My friends come round a lot and we spend most of the time playing video games,’ says Arvid. Having his collection of video games safely stored away stops them from getting broken, too.
