The first step to organising any space, is to get real about your needs and how you’d like the space to function. The space we’re working with is narrow, so we chose ALGOT, as it’s flexible and can be built directly into the closet. Next, consider the functionality and design of your storage. You’ll need a good balance of rails, drawers, and open shelving for your different types of clothing. Lastly, create a place you love the look of. For us that means giving the interior a fresh coat of paint, adding curtains to add softness and close it off from view, and a few throw rugs for comfort and style.

Make life a little easier by dedicating one wall of your closet to open shelving. You’ll find your folded clothes that much quicker in the morning, and have plenty of space to add boxes for things like underwear. And that in-between wall space? Add some hooks to hang your hats.

Seemingly useless areas, like this narrow strip of wall facing the interior of the closet, don’t have to go to waste. With the addition of hooks it becomes a perfect place to hang tomorrow’s outfit or clothes you might not want to put back on the shelf but aren’t quite ready for washing yet.

No look is complete without the finishing touches, and no closet is complete without a place to style them. So make one wall a vanity area, complete with a full-length mirror with direct lighting, shelves for makeup and decorative pieces, and a hair care station. We even turned a tablet stand into a jewelry display by looping wire around it and adding a piece of felt for earrings.

Our walk-in closet measured in at 3m x 1m. Luckily, almost all of the shelving used can be customised and adjusted to fit closets of all sizes.
