A new way to decorate for the holidays
We love traditional holiday décor as much as the next person, but sometimes breaking tradition can be so refreshing. We decided to rethink the typical and try something a bit new. We opted for soft lights, pastel hues, and natural materials all across the home.
The feast
You’ve heard it before: less can totally be more. The star of your holiday feast is the meal, so let it shine bright with a laid-back table setting. Simple, hand-crafted origami, a few sprigs of greenery, and a natural wooden plank in place of your standard table runner (perfect for all those hot dishes!).
The must-have wreath
Some decorations, like the wreath, are just a must. The holidays would feel wrong without one. This year, ours will be toned down a notch. A few easy paper stars or ornaments, a single light chain (these have a battery pack and no long cords) or ribbon. And that’s all you need for the ultimate sign of the season.
The small-space wonder
Short on space? Just use what you’ve got. The windowsill is a perfect place for an easy, yet elegant, still life. Display your holidays cards (we created an envelope for ours with a gift bag) with a picture holder and add a bit of greenery, some candles and more.
The new wave tree
Want that cosy holiday vibe without the mess of pine needles all over your floor? Get crafty. Make a modern-looking wooden tree frame and decorate it as much (or as little) as you like.
The low-key private space
The best thing about the bedroom is that it’s all yours, and usually off-limits to guests. Unfortunately, that also means it rarely gets the same touch of holiday spirit as the rest of your home. Why should your most private room go without? Concentrate on your bed, adding a few soft lights and a few ornaments. We guarantee sweet dreams.
We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
