Fresh home furnishing ideas and affordable furniture - IKEA
’80s design icons in limited GRATULERA collection
Celebrate 75 years of IKEA design with the newest GRATULERA capsule collection, featuring vintage favourites from the ’70s and ’80s.
Sit back in ’80s style
When the RÅANE armchair launched in 1983, it was called JÄRPEN. Designer Niels Gammelgaard wanted to challenge the idea of an armchair and see if it was possible to make it comfortable without any filling or fabric. The solution? Mesh material designed resource-efficiently.
Revisit fun favourites
The KLIPPAN sofa was one of the first affordable sofas from IKEA. Designed to stand up to our need to play, it paid tribute to popular ’80s design movement The Memphis Group. For GRATULERA, the IKEA favourite gets new covers in cool cobalt blue, bright yellow and fiery red.
Go retro with pattern and colour
During the ’80s, designer Åsa Gray made some bold and beautiful patterns for IKEA. ‘She was one of our icon designers and so very Scandinavian,’ says creative leader Karin Gustavsson. FOR GRATULERA, find graphic monochrome motifs to mix with vivid patterns from the decade.
