Bathroom storage for kids that helps teach, too
Sometimes, a family bathroom can be like an indoor playground – chaotic with lots of stuff and not a lot of organization. To help make bathroom time a little easier, we created LÅDDAN storage board for children. Like always for children’s product, safety comes first. This is in our DNA and comes natural. Instead, the challenging part was to make LÅDDAN educational. A sand-filled hour glass ticked that box, too.
Mornings and evenings in the bathroom can be quite intense and wild. If not so say, a complete mess. Our designer Sarah Fager wondered what would make this a little bit easier.
Designing for children
LÅDDAN storage board comes with a mirror, an hour glass and containers. It has holes so all the pieces can be placed where kids want. "The challenging part was to design for kids and at the same time make sure everything is safe," Sarah explains. "For example, it was not a good idea to use real mirror glass because that's a safety issue. It works just as good with a reflective plastic film." Suction cups make it easy to place and move the entire storage board so that it’s always at the right height, even as kids grow.
Teaching good habits and sustainability, too
The sand-filled hour glass with marks for 2, 4 and 6 minutes is a key part. "Everyone with kids knows how difficult it is to get them to brush their teeth long enough or to quit a fun bath when it's bedtime," Sarah says. "The hour glass will help parents and kids to communicate in a better way that's also visual!" The hour glass also teaches kids to save water. Reducing an 8-minute shower down to 4 minutes actually saves about 60 litres of water. We may never solve how to make bath time less wild, but we can help make bathroom time easier and educational, too.
