IKEA wins big with seven Red Dot Design Awards!

IKEA has won many design awards over the years, and this year picks up seven Red Dot Awards for product design. The Red Dot Award is a sought-after accolade, given by an international jury to products with outstanding design. Meet the winning designs…

Outdoor comfort

BRUSEN is an outdoor sofa designed to work on its own as a relaxed place to sit or in combination for activities like dining. “I wanted to create a durable and decorative sofa that fits perfectly in the outdoor environment,” says designer Ola Wihlborg. “BRUSEN is functional and beautiful. The open metal structure blends into the surroundings and can be personalised with pillows for added comfort.”

Designed for everybody

The OMTÄNKSAM tables are designed for inclusivity and wellbeing, as part of a collection of ergonomic designs made for moments or stages in life when we may need a little extra support. The tables have a matt surface to minimise light reflection, extra clearance underneath, and an organic shape so there are no sharp corners. They’re quick and easy to assemble, with no need for additional tools.

Stylish sound

Designed in collaboration with sound experts Sonos, the SYMFONISK WiFi bookshelf speaker is multifunctional. “It can be mounted on the wall, on almost any kitchen rail or be placed standing up or laying down on a bookshelf or on its own – without compromising on the sound quality or user experience,” says Andreas Fredriksson, designer at IKEA of Sweden.

Hard-working lighting

IKEA designer Henrik Preutz created the SVALLET work lamp. “I wanted to design a true friend for your work desk,” he says. “A simple, yet good-looking lamp with character and personality. The construction is also designed with accessibility and sustainability in mind.” SVALLET is made up of a shade that easily snaps together with the base, which also holds the cable in place.

Smart kitchens

The sleek black FOKUSERA extractor hood picked up an award. “We wanted to make exceptional home appliances in form, language and functionality. We paid extra attention to details and user experience to make these products a joy to use,” says range and product manager Hanna Carleke. The energy-saving FINSMAKARE forced air oven and FINSMAKARE microwave combi oven also received awards.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
