Home visit: 3 creative kitchen-organising tips

Can a well-ordered kitchen still leave room for personality? Find inspiration from the hide-and-display ideas in this organised cooking space.

Mix displays in with storage Use wall-mounted kitchen cabinets to hide what you don’t want to see and open shelving to show off what you do. ‘Leaving a gap between the rows of cabinets creates extra storage and display opportunities and gives an impression of lightness,’ says IKEA co-worker Dagmara of the cabinets in her kitchen.

Hang your favourite items Dagmara uses a magnetic knife rack and hooks above the counter to store small tools and decorative accessories. ‘I like to keep the things I love and use the most in sight and within easy reach,’ she says.

Give space to open shelves Dagmara’s open shelving combines functionality with a clean, uncluttered look. ‘When it comes to open storage, sometimes less is more,’ she says.

Easy kitchen organisation ‘People are often short on storage in the kitchen,’ says Dagmara. ‘But little ideas can work well. Picture ledges and hooks are great ways of freeing up your work surfaces while also having fun with display, and making the most of unused wall space.’

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
