A relaxed and colourful summertime wedding

Love is in the air! See how to create a festive yet relaxed mood with relatively little effort. Put a tropical twist on a wedding, graduation or any celebration you want bursting with colour.

Odds and ends connected by textiles

Finding enough chairs and tables is always a challenge, let alone matching ones. Instead, let tablecloths and other details bind it all together – harmonising any mix of furniture, own or borrowed.

Decorations in full bloom

Combining lighting and flowers sets the mood, day and following night. (To carry any extra weight, be sure to reinforce lighting chains with fishing line or similar.) Also, the same artificial flowers will still work for your ten-year anniversary.

Build the mood from the ground up

An easy way to boost the effect of your decorations is to think about the room in layers: bottom, middle, top. Unused floor space comes alive with lanterns and flowers, then build from there.

An extravagant feeling doesn’t require an extravagant budget. You can do a lot even with the things you already have. An inspiring theme, accessories and details can go a long way towards creating a wedding-worthy setting.

Mix and match, and mix some more

Once you get going, there’s no need to hold back. Juicy colours and brave patterns tend to go well together, even if they don’t match to begin with. Above all, mix!

Playing with napkins

Long dinners require extra napkins. Take the opportunity to create a patchwork with mixed colours and patterns, and use layers and placing for extra effect.

Seating fit for centre stage

If you don’t have thrones to spare, make them yourself. With minor alterations, ordinary chairs can be made into seating worthy of royalty and newlyweds alike.

Leaves, ribbons and more

Add details that go along with the theme, or the festive occasion, or both. For a tropical wedding, ribbons, leaves (artificial or real) and some love is all it takes.

The wedding gate

Place a clothes rack or two at the entrance. Draped in fabric, they assist guests in both directions. For entrants, setting the mood right at the door. For people going for a breath of air, keeping belongings and warming throws in check.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
